Diary of a Tall Fashionista: Time to Sloooow Down!

Do you ever feel like a Nationwide commercial? Does "life come at you fast?" I feel like this lately. My kids just got out of school and we're frantically trying to get everything washed and packed to take my oldest to music camp this weekend. My to do list is a mile long. I feel like my brain has short circuited.

Case in point: Last night I drove down to our local gas station to fill up the car. I thought I'd get ahead of the schedule to prepare for an early morning drive. So I pulled up to the gas pump, slid my credit card and filled up my car. It's the same routine I've done for years. Then I drove down the road to the vacuum out the car. While there, my husband called and said the Sheriff is at our house looking for me as I didn't pay for our gas. What the heck?

To make matters worse, the Sheriff is my 9 year old's baseball coach! Anyone I drove back to the gas station and went inside to pay and figure out what happened. The Sheriff said, "I don't want to arrest one of my baseball parents." Oh brother, how embarrassing! After paying, luckily they didn't press charges and we still aren't sure why the credit card didn't work on the gas pump! Thank heavens I live in a small town!

So this morning I arose extra early to take the Cub Scouts to day camp. I had 6 overly eager and noisy nine years in my car. After an hour's drive we arrived at the camp and I released these animals, I mean sweeties to the camp and headed home. Suddenly I saw flashing lights behind me. I quickly pulled over and another Officer Friendly said I was going 36 mph in a 25 mph zone. You're kidding me! After hearing my explanation of taking the cub scouts to day camp and not being familiar with his town, he let me go with a warning. I am so thankful!
Note: I just want to ad that I don't have a criminal record and it's been 10 years since I've even had a speeding ticket. I do my best to obey the law and my Father was a policeman.

After these two incidents, I guess the voice inside of me started screaming that it's time to sloooow way down! Some times we need to take time to look around and enjoy the scenery. So that's exactly what I did. On the way home, I stopped at Target and went shopping - completely alone. I haven't been kid free in Target in years! Afterwards I stopped along the Colorado River and watched the kayakers. They were amazing and so courageous. The power of the rushing river is amazing!

So how about you tall women, is it time to take a breather and slow down for a while?
