Tall Personal Shopping: Tall Dresses for an Active Mature Lady

I received a tall personal shopping request via Facebook for a 79 year old tall lady looking for size 18T in dresses that she can wear to church. She also commented that she is an active lady. I am so happy to see that we have such a wide range of ages visiting our websites.

Well, I have bad news and good news. First the bad news. There aren't a whole lot of size 18T dresses in stock right now and the ones that I have found aren't very age appropriate for you. Tall Winter to Spring Look

I know it’s not Spring yet…but retailers are eager to remind you that it’s just around the corner.  As such, one of the MLK day sales featured this adorable yellow and grey striped sweater.  The minute I saw it, I knew I’d have to blog about it.  I love bright colors.  I know most people are a bit scared of them but there’s no better time than the drudgery of Winter or the slushiness of Spring to wear a bright color that will brighten your mood and make you smile.   I also love that even though it’s a fairly simple item, it’s a little more interesting than your basic crewneck.  You can totally work this outfit as a transitional one.  It’s good for Winter (obviously you’d swap out the heels for boots--how about these?!) but also Spring.  The old rule?  No white after Labor Day.  The new rule?  There are no rules.  Ok I lied- the rule is that as long as the material is seasonally appropriate you’re good to go.  (i.e. no white cotton but white denim is ok!).  So the materials are definitely appropriate for winter while the bright color palette brings it into spring.  This outfit is downright cute.  And when paired with skinny white jeans and a bright pump?  Yes please.

Have you ever played around with Boden's outfit maker? I spent a while mixing and matching clothes and it's a lot of fun. Warning, this could be addicting! This is the outfit I came up with:

• I started with a Stitch Detail Denim Skirt (in long sizes).



• Added a Wrap Jersey Top with 3/4 length sleeves. It's about 26" long, so may not work for you if you have a long torso.



• Heeled Stretch Boots - available to size 10 1/2.



• And finished it off with a Soft Leather Bag in a beautiful grape color.

Tall Women's Outfit - What to Wear to Thanksgiving Dinner

As a child, every year Thanksgiving dinner was rotated between my grandparents' homes. On the years we went to my Mother's side of the family the dress code was very formal. The ladies were expected to wear dresses and the guys usually wore khaki pants and a sweater. My Father's side of the family was quite a bit more relaxed. However, we usually wore nice pants, but no dresses.
As a newly married bride, I was quite surprised when I spent my first Thanksgiving with my in-laws. A few of the in-laws showed up in sweat pants and t-shirts. I found it quite disrespectful of my mother-in-law, who had spent several days preparing food for this special meal.
In the United States, Thanksgiving meals are traditionally a time to give thanks for our blessings. Loving care and lots of time go into preparing a perfect meal. Take a little pride in your appearance and dress to show respect for the hosts (if you are going to someone else's home) or to your guests (if you are the hostess).
Today I've put together an example of what to wear to Thanksgiving if you are a tall women. This is a nicer casual outfit. It's got some nice style, yet you won't be overdressed either.
